Professor Kathleen Maxwell’s book Between Constantinople and Rome: An Illuminated Byzantine Gospel Book (Paris gr. 54) and the Union of Churches published by Ashgate Publishing Company was recognized in 2013-2014 President’s Report. Maxwell addresses the Paris, Bibliothèque Nationale de France, codex grec 54, one of the most ambitious and complex manuscripts produced during the Byzantine era finding remarkable links in the illuminations. She answers questions that have never been answered about the manuscripts and dives into the complexity behind the questions there are still to answer.
