Exploring Society Through Photography

Art 151 Exploring Society Through Photography is the first Experimental Learning course in the Art and Art History Department.

By Renee Billingslea

In the winter quarter of 2015, Renee Billingslea offered her popular course, Exploring Society through Photography, one of the first Experimental Learning courses offered in the Department of Art and Art History. This class brought intermediate photography students together with senior citizens in the local community and with members of the Osher Lifelong Learning Program (OLLI) to collaborate on a project called A Century Between Us. One of the most important aspects of this project was the time students spent sharing, in class, their experience with their seniors.
