Andrea Pappas Guest Edits "Configuring and Contesting Jewish Identities in the Visual Field"

Associate Professor Andrea Pappas recently served as guest editor for “Configuring and Contesting Jewish Identities in the Visual Field,” a special issue of Modern Jewish Studies. Two years in the making, this issue is a collection of new work by leading scholars in the field. The articles in this issue explore a variety of topics related to European and Israeli Jewish art. The art and experience of Jewish women emerges as a strong theme in this issue, advancing current trends in recent scholarship. The introductory essay by Professor Pappas aims to orient scholars of Jewish Studies to the contributions made by art historians to the field.
