Art and Art History Faculty Recognized for Excellence

Our faculty are moving up: the College of Arts and Sciences has recently recognized the excellence of our faculty. Kathy Aoki (printmaking) has been promoted to full professor and Takeshi Moro (photography) has earned tenure and been promoted to associate professor. Renee Billingslea (photography) has been promoted to the rank of senior lecturer. We are very proud of the recognition of the high quality of scholarship and teaching that these promotions represent. Congratulations to Kathy, Takeshi, and Renee!

We aren’t kidding when we say our faculty are award-winning: in September, Kelly Detweiler (painting) and Pancho Jiménez (ceramics) received the Francisco Jiménez “Reaching Out” award, given annually by the College of Arts and Sciences to honor faculty and staff who, through their actions and contributions to our local and/or global community, strive to serve society’s most disadvantaged and underserved members. Pancho and Kelly have been running a summer program that brings high school students to campus to take courses in studio art and in writing. These courses introduce students to the college experience and expose them to the power of the arts to enrich and transform lives.
