Jean Ashton played halfback for the Broncos from 1959-1963. Unstoppable on the field, Ashton was voted “Best Back” as a freshman. He racked up a number of 2 point conversions and touchdowns during his college football career while earning the title of Leading Ground Gainer for the Broncos in 1963. Alongside Ron Calcagno, Ashton lead the Broncos during their successful 1961-1962 season, finishing a number of games with thrilling plays as part of “Pat Malley Brand football”. The yearbook recorded Ashton as scoring the only touchdown during the first Alumni Football Game that year.
