Don “Waddy” DeRosa was a star the moment he stepped foot on campus. DeRosa played most positions but is best known for his stellar play at quarterback. Coaches reported that he was one of the most cool and matured players they had ever seen. DeRosa put his skill on display when the Broncos upset Stanford in 1934. DeRosa completed a key touchdown pass to Bill Hall to tie and eventually win the game. Due to this incredible play and his impressive career as a Bronco, he was voted an All-American as a sophomore. In his senior year, DeRosa was part of the 1937 Sugar Bowl team.
