Philip R. Sanfilippo graduated from Stanford University and continued his education at Creighton University, graduating with a degree in medicine. Dr. Sanfilippo served as the ship’s doctor on the USS Alabama during WWII. Sanfilippo was a benefactor, supporting many charities, with a special interest in athletics.
