Harry Wolter was a native of the bay area, growing up in Monterey where he was standout phenom for his local high school. With almost every college coach wanting him, Wolter chose Santa Clara were he excelled on the field as both an outfielder and a pitcher. After Santa Clara, he played seven seasons in the MLB for an array of organizations including the Cincinnati Reds, Pitsbrugburg Pirates, St. Louis Cardinals, Boston Red Sox, New York Highlanders/Yankees, and the Chicago Cubs. His superior talent continued into the MLB where he was still able to outfield and pitch. As a batter, Wolter stats were: 286 runs, 514 hits, 69 doubles, 42 triples, 12 home runs, 167 RBI, 95 stolen bases, 268 walks, .270 batting average, .365 on-base percentage, .369 slugging percentage. After his career in the MLB, Wolter couldn't stay away from home and the game he loved as he coached for Stanford University for 26 years.
