The Retail Management Institute (RMI)

The Retail Management Institute provides undergraduate students with a minor in retail studies and the skills needed to succeed in the evolving retail industry. Open to all SCU undergraduate students, the minor prepares students for a diverse range of leadership roles, including e-commerce, buying, merchandising, planning and allocation, digital marketing/merchandising, and supply chain management and analytics. For students in Arts and Science, the minor provides a well-rounded curriculum offering broad exposure to essential business concepts. For Marketing majors, it requires only three additional courses, and for business school students, just four extra classes. Students in the program also have the opportunity to attend retail conferences in New York, participate in corporate visits, gain industry-recognized certifications, secure valuable internship experiences, and learn directly from senior industry leaders.

Students interested in exploring retail beyond the minor can join the Retail Interest Group (RIG), which is open to all undergraduate and graduate students. RIG offers exclusive access to Retail Management Institute exclusive events, networking opportunities with top retailers and alumni, and insights into emerging trends shaping the $6.86 trillion retail industry. Through guest speaker sessions, behind-the-scenes brand insights, career fairs, and internship opportunities, RIG helps students build valuable connections and stay ahead in the fast-paced retail landscape. Whether you're interested in marketing, technology, or merchandising, RIG welcomes students from all backgrounds to engage with the industry and unlock new career pathways.
