The Santa Clara University Accounting Association (SCUAA) is a student-run organization striving to prepare accounting majors for professional success. SCUAA works closely with the Accounting Department to organize events that provide students with opportunities to connect with professionals from numerous firms and companies.

Led by Senior Officers Kristi Ikeda, Tiffany Iskandar, Diana Ng, and Amanda Tam, the SCUAA started the new school year with a set of fresh ideas and new goals. The first initiate was to launch a new SCUAA website (tinyurl.com/SCUAA), which has greatly eased communication between SCUAA and the students, faculty, staff, and firms. Preparation for the 2015-2016 events started with the selection of five Junior Officers: Taylor Beatty, Andrew Becker, Arun Coumar, Kylie Chun, and Walter Yu.

This fall, the SCUAA officers strived to create an efficient and smooth process for both students and firms for the Association’s programs and activities. They continued to drive the Resume Critiques and Mock Interviews with PwC, EY, Deloitte, and KPMG. On October 1st, the SCUAA held the 34th annual Meet the Firms Night at the SCU Locatelli Center, a location change from previous years. The event was attended by 34 firms with over 160 professionals.  Student turnout was also high with over 135 undergraduate Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, Finance, and CAAP students participating. The positive feedback provided by both firms and students attested to the success of the event. Furthermore, the Association hosted the Accounting 20 Panel with representatives from Protiviti, BPM, and BDO. These fall events are intended for juniors and seniors in preparation for internships and full-time employment.

In the winter and spring quarters, the SCUAA will focus on facilitating the sophomore externship recruitment. The officers will organize networking workshops, resume critique, and mock interviews for the sophomores in order to guide and prepare them for summer externships. The officers will also continue to host the quarterly Accounting 20 Panel with representatives from a variety of firms.

Throughout the year, the Senior Officers will continue to drive the initiatives and refine the process of SCUAA events and activities in hopes of further enhancing opportunities for students and firms. Please visit our website at tinyurl.com/SCUAA for more information.
