Emily Reisman

Emily Reisman comes to the Center for Food Innovation and Entrepreneurship from the PhD program in Environmental Studies at the University of California Santa Cruz. Her research examines how knowledge cultures shape opportunities for a more just and sustainable agri-food system. Past projects include working with rural farmers on forest rehabilitation in Togo, examining the challenges of village seed banks with nonprofit partners in India, and an in-depth analysis of the evolution of almond production paradigms in California and Spain.  At CFIE she will be developing her postdoctroral project, an analysis of how, why and to what effect Silicon Valley entrepreneurs are increasingly mobilizing digital technologies for improving food and agriculture.
