Jim has been working in the start-up ecosystem in Silicon Valley for over 20 years and has been with Silicon Valley Bank since 2012. As Head of the Emerging Manager Practice at SVB, Jim leads a team that provides general partners with tailored services and strategic guidance-from fundraising to fund operations, to portfolio company support and creative liquidity solutions. Prior to joining SVB, Jim co-founded Selby Venture Partners, a seed and early stage focused VC firm with over $130M in management from a diversified group of Limited Partners, including the US Government. In addition to having the privilege of working with several amazing founders throughout his career, Jim is proud to have been an early investor in Pandora (NYSE:P), BigFix (Acq by IBM for $400M), Coremetrics (Acq by IBM) and Active Semiconductor, Inc.

Jim is a native Californian who serves on the Leavey School of Business Advisory Board at Santa Clara University. Jim holds an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University, where he was honored as a Distinguished Alumnus in 2007, and a B.S. in Finance from Santa Clara University.

Steve Troy, Director and CEO, AreoFund Financial, Inc.

Stephen Troy established AeroFund Financial, Inc. in August, 1987.

Before embarking on this venture, he founded a chain of three specialty restaurants in 1976 which he owned and operated until 1979. Upon their sale he opened a vending business in San Jose, CA, which grew to be one of the largest such companies in the Bay Area. Immediately after its sale in 1983, Troy founded Norstar Video, a landmark national video distribution company, specializing in the acquisition and sale of instructional video programming.

AeroFund Financial, Inc. followed, and as its founder and Chief Executive Officer, Troy has established AeroFund as a prominent national finance company, which provides secured loans to small and medium-sized businesses. Additionally. Troy is the founder and chairman of, the first national business bank to be approved by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to operate solely on the internet.

Mr. Troy is the author of “Business Biographies, Shaken Not Stirred….With a Twist," serves on the governing board of Junior Achievement of Northern California, and is the past chairman of Junior Achievement of Silicon Valley Monterey Bay and the Northern California chapter of the Commercial Finance Association.

He attended the University of Miami from 1971 to 1975 where he earned a B.A. in Business Administration majoring in Finance with a minor in History.
