This series addresses topics of interest to SCU student entrepreneurs and provides students with an opportunity to experience "the startup story" directly from alumni living it each day.  The intimate format is designed for a greater connection with the speaker and provides ample opportunity for Q&A.  Registration is not required, all are welcome.  We hope to see you soon.

Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer

Christopher Cabrera is a seasoned executive with more than two decades of successful senior management experience at both early-stage and public companies. At these companies, he has managed sales, marketing, operations and business development.

Mr. Cabrera is a noted industry expert in issues relating to sales performance management, sales compensation, and enterprise and on-demand/software-as-a-service delivery models. He was recently named the 2011 “Alumni Entrepreneur of the Year” by the Lloyd Greif Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at the USC Marshall School of Business.

Cabrera is the co-author of Xactly Sales Compensation for Dummies(Wiley Publishing, 2006), as well as a contributing writer to such industry publications as Selling Power Magazine, destinationCRM.com, BusinessFinance, and SandHill.com . Mr. Cabrera speaks frequently at leading industry forums and events, such as salesforce.com’s Dreamforce end-user and developer conference  and the Software Information Industry Association (SIIA) OnDemand Conference .

Prior to founding Xactly Corporation, Mr. Cabrera was the senior vice president of operations for Callidus Software (NASDAQ: CALD), an on-premise incentive compensation management company. At Callidus, he was responsible for the execution of worldwide sales and marketing strategies, customer advocacy, and strategic alliances with companies such as IBM, Accenture and Deloitte. Under his leadership, the company acquired more than 100 customers, contributing to the growth of annual revenues from zero to greater than $75 million and a successful IPO in 2003 raising more than $70 million.

Before joining Callidus Software, Mr. Cabrera ran North American channel sales at Silicon Graphics (NYSE: SGI), a UNIX hardware and software vendor.

Mr. Cabrera earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration with an emphasis in entrepreneurship from the University of Southern California (USC) and a master’s degree in business administration from Santa Clara University. Today Mr. Cabrera is the Chairman of the Board for USC Marshall Partners, Northern California. He is also on the Advisory Board for Santa Clara University's Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE).

After graduating from Santa Clara University with a finance major, Thomas spent two years at a VC-backed startup where he oversaw company operations. During his time there, he developed the processes for client projects as well as led marketing initiatives that grew their mobile app to over 300,000 users. Recently, he launched a new consumer-facing startup involved in the cryptocurrency space

Dana​ ​Dunford​ ​is​ ​the​ ​CEO​ ​of​ ​Hemlane,​ ​a​ ​technology-enabled​ ​property​ ​management platform.​ ​She​ ​is​ ​a​ ​strong​ ​advocate​ ​of​ ​purchasing​ ​properties​ ​anywhere,​ ​as​ ​the​ ​best investments​ ​are​ ​not​ ​typically​ ​in​ ​your​ ​backyard.​ ​She​ ​supports​ ​real​ ​estate​ ​investors​ ​in setting​ ​up​ ​a​ ​process​ ​to​ ​manage​ ​their​ ​rentals​ ​from​ ​a​ ​distance,​ ​while​ ​connecting them​ ​with​ ​local,​ ​licensed​ ​professionals.

Dana​ ​previously​ ​worked​ ​at​ ​Apple​ ​on​ ​their​ ​worldwide​ ​financial​ ​planning​ ​and​ ​analysis team​ ​and​ ​at​ ​Nest,​ ​the​ ​home​ ​technology​ ​company​ ​acquired​ ​by​ ​Google​ ​for​ ​$3.2B,​ ​in business​ ​development.​ ​She​ ​received​ ​her​ ​MBA​ ​from​ ​Harvard​ ​Business​ ​School.

In​ ​her​ ​free​ ​time,​ ​Dana​ ​is​ ​an​ ​avid​ ​equestrian,​ ​paraglider,​ ​and​ ​skier.​ ​She​ ​is​ ​the​ ​first woman​ ​to​ ​win​ ​a​ ​calf​ ​dressing​ ​championship​ ​belt​ ​buckle​ ​at​ ​the​ ​CA​ ​Rodeo.​ ​She​ ​takes risks​ ​in​ ​her​ ​personal​ ​life​ ​but​ ​spends​ ​her​ ​work​ ​life​ ​advocating​ ​technology​ ​and prudent​ ​spending​ ​for​ ​a​ ​risk-mitigated​ ​solution​ ​to​ ​real​ ​estate​ ​management.

Mr. Tim Buchner co-founded Mercatus, Inc. (formerly SCS Renewables, Inc.) in 2009 and serves as its Chief Operating Officer and Chief Revenue Officer. Mr. Buchner has built his career in emerging markets; transforming new ideas into scalable realities. He has a solid blend of business, technical, and financial acumen and is responsible for driving sales and project finance teams at SCS. At both start up and public companies, he has consistently proven his tenacious ability to lead change and drive profitable growth.

In early 2009, he co-founded SCS Renewables after 15 years as a successful sales and corporate development executive in the wireless and semiconductor industries. Since starting SCS, he has successfully negotiated and closed over $80M in revenue and investments for SCS’ finance and technology clients representing over 75 mega watts of renewable energy power generation throughout the United States, Germany, Italy, and the Czech Republic. After several years as a successful sales executive, Mr. Buchner spearheaded Magellan’s new Wireless Division driving sales and marketing initiatives, which became a multi-million dollar business during his tenure with clear market leadership. His first leadership role in a publically traded company came at CSI Wireless where he was responsible for sales and business development for the company’s wireless initiatives. He swiftly renegotiated non-lucrative contracts into profitable partnerships, driving a 30% margin increase in his first year.

After CSI, he went on to lead WJ Communications Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) business unit driving a transformation with revenue growth of over 300% and profitability during his tenure. Mr. Buchner was soon promoted to Senior Director of Sales where he led sales initiatives throughout the U.S. and Europe that yielded a 40% profit increase and facilitated a 21% increase in top line revenue over three years. He serves as a Director of Mercatus, Inc. He also earned his MBA from Santa Clara University during his time with WJ Communications. Mr. Buchner holds a B.S. in Commerce degree from Santa Clara University.

Sam Kujovich, is a a Santa Clara alumnus and the former CTO of the SCU on campus platform Runner, Inc.

Tyler leads strategy and operations for IP Logic. He is an expert in legal prediction and intellectual property data, in particular, designing systems for processing PAIR, PTAB, TSDR, and other sources of legal data into predictive models. As a Python developer, Tyler is the conduit between engineers and legal professionals, providing empirical answers to questions of law. Tyler holds a J.D. with High Tech Law Certificate, Intellectual Property Specialization, from Santa Clara University, School of Lawand a B.A. in Philosophy from Whittier College. During law school, Tyler operated a GPU farm, mining Ether on the Olympic version of the Ethereum network.  Tyler is Chairman of the Board of Directors
