Impact Investing Certificate Program

Impact Investing is a fairly unique course when compared to other "investor" courses being offered in the United States and Europe.  It is focused on providing the tools and insights that participants can use to continue their impact investing work long after attending.  Pathways to Impact Investing is a certificate level executive education course from the Silicon Valley Executive Center at Santa Clara University.

The course encompasses a number of asset classes:

  1. Publicly traded securities
  2. Fixed income investments
  3. Natural resource trusts
  4. Impact funds
  5. Environment funds
  6. Direct investments
  7. Impact bonds

There is a concentration on impact, values, and how both weave into an impact investment policy. We will also present a modeling tool that allows course attendees to experiment with asset allocation and investment selection that supports their individual (or organization's) investment policy.  The instructors will address the elements of an investment process, including sources of impact investment ideas, screening and diligence methods, investment terms, and impact measurement & evaluation. The course benefits from the work at Tonic and Miller Center.  We have previously held over 900 social enterprises along with pioneering work on alternative investment vehicles.

Pathways to Impact Investing, a Silicon Valley Executive Center and Miller Center for Social Entrepreneurship partnership, will help you understand the sector landscape, plan your impact strategy, and learn how other impact investors how make direct and indirect investments.
