EMBA Application FAQs
What can I expect when applying?
The application itself should require no more than two hours to complete; you will be asked to provide personal background details including schools previously attended, employment history, and activities and distinctions.
You should then allow up to two weeks to request and submit all supporting documents.
Don't forget that you may be eligible for a GMAT/GRE waiver!

Is GMAT/GRE required before I apply to the program?
Applicants may apply to have the GMAT/GRE requirement waived by submitting the GMAT/GRE Waiver Form. Waivers are granted based on academic background in a quantitative field and work experience.
*In lieu of the GMAT/GRE, candidates are encouraged to take the Executive Assessment. The Executive Assessment is specifically designed to evaluate the business school readiness of seasoned professionals. The assessment focuses on skills that are critical both at work and in an EMBA program: higher order reasoning, critical thinking, analysis, and problem-solving. Because it was designed specifically for experienced professionals, it requires modest preparation, takes only 90 minutes to complete, and includes flexible rescheduling options. The test is administered by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), creators of the GMAT® exam. Learn more about the Executive Assessment by visiting gmac.com/ea. GMAT and GRE scores are also accepted.
Am I required to come to campus for an interview?
Interviews are required, and you will be contacted regarding scheduling once your application is complete. Non-local candidates have the option of a virtual interview if he or she is unable to come to campus in person.
Do I need copies of all transcripts, even for institutions where I completed only one class?
Yes. Official transcripts are required from all institutions attended. Students applying with an international degree should start the WES process (course-by-course evaluation) as soon as possible because it can take several months for the WES evaluation to be processed. Official transcripts or WES Evaluation should be sent directly to BusinessCAS as instructed in the application, not to Santa Clara University. Applicants with a Master's or Bachelor's from the US are not required to complete a WES evaluation.
Do you offer conditional acceptance?
We do not offer conditional acceptance under any circumstances.
What happens after submitting the online application for the Executive MBA program?
Once a completed application is submitted, qualified applicants will receive an invitation to schedule an on-campus admission interview. Applicants from outside the immediate area will be given the option of a video interview.
Applicants are admitted on the basis of academic ability as indicated by college records and GMAT/GRE, demonstrated career vision, personal and professional recommendations, and motivations to complete a demanding academic program.
Admissions decisions are made within one to three (1-3) weeks after the final admissions interview.
Once admitted, a $1500 non-refundable tuition deposit is required to secure a position in the MBA program.
Where are the classes held?
Your Executive MBA classes are held in Lucas Hall, home to the Leavey School of Business, in the executive classrooms on the first floor.
