Alan Tan is an adjunct lecturer in the information systems & analytics department since September 2015.

He instructs graduate students in classes related to E-Business Technologies and Virtualization.

Alan is a formal R&D Director at VMware, the leader in virtualization and Cloud Computing. Alan holds Ph.D. degree in Real-Time Operating System research in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the State University of New York, Buffalo. Prior to VMware, he held R&D management position at Mentor Graphics and software engineer in ITRI, Taiwan.

During his 20+ year high tech career, Alan worked on software development tools, IDE and web portals for embedded systems, enterprise software, virtualization technology and more. He brings this breadth of industry experience into his teaching at SCU, providing first-hand, insider, knowledge and insights of how the industry operates.

Alan is the holder of a US patent.

Alan graduated from SUNY Buffalo with a ECE M.S. in 1992, followed by a ECE Ph.D. in 1995.
