Sr. Assistant Dean, Toby McChesney, presented at the Graduate Management Admissions Council Annual Conference in Denver on June 20th.  The panel was titled "How to Do More with Less: The Essential Tools in Four Business Schools' Admissions Toolkits" and it consisted of deans from University of North Carolina, University of Kansas, and Fordham University. Toby was able to illustrate the SCU brand to 50 attendees.

June Highlights

June 14th: Graduation Ceremony

Congratulations to our 364 graduates that earned a Master of Business Administration or Master of Science degree. There was a total of 200 Evening MBA graduates, 19 Executive MBAs, 57 MS in Business Analytics, 9 MS in Supply Chain Management, 59 MS in Information Systems, and 20 MS in Finance. The demographic of our graduates come from all around the world including those coming from India, China, Vietnam, Turkey, Taiwan, Chile, Korea, and Georgia (the country, not the state)!

June 18th & June 19th: Career Management Team Open House

Thanks to those of you who stopped by the Graduate Business Career Management Open House to grab a sweet treat and to enter our raffle. Congratulations to our 6 lucky winners: Prithviraj Naidu (MSIS), Salman Khan (MBA), Matthew Chung (MBA), Charles Leclerc (MBA), Grace Pai (MBA), and Mia Bajic (MSBA). June 21st: Supply Chain Management Association's (SCMA) company tour of Sonic Manufacturing Technologies

SCMA members visited Sonic Manufacturing Technologies, the largest EMS in Silicon Valley. Kenneth Raab, CEO, and David Ginsbeerg, VP of Supply Chain, showed students the shop floor and spoke about how Sonic helps customers to scale their vision from prototype to production and engineer new products in the electronics marketplace.


June 29th: SCMA's Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Training

SCMA organized a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Training taught by Dr. Anthony Tarantino. During the intensive one-day program, students got a thorough understanding of the elementary aspects of the Lean Six Sigma Methodology and how it is applied in the industry. Those who passed the test also received their Yellow Belt Certification.

Some examples include: Equinix, Cisco, Amazon, Earnest, Okta, PayPal, Shutterfly, Deloitte, Marvel Semiconductor, SFO, TeleSense, Omnicell, Intuitive Surgical, and Varian Medical Systems. Let's hear about one of our current students' internship experience:

Amber Kang, a current MS in Business Analytics student, is a Sr. Sourcing Manager Intern with the device team at Amazon Lab126. She works in the Electro Mechanical team conducting market trend analysis of critical commodities, which includes an examination of the political, economic, social, technological, environmental, and legal implications. She works with leadership from multiple functions including Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Product Management to understand the impact on Amazon devices overall. Before interviewing with Amazon, she studied their leadership principles and participated in mock interviews with her career coach and a friend from SCMA. Amber attended various career workshops and felt that everyone from the career team was very approachable and helpful; She also attended various events hosted by SCMA to build her local network.
