May 2nd: SCMA organized a Tesla Factory Tour

Students learned about the history of Tesla's factory, their sustainability initiatives, and observed the entire manufacturing process of electric cars utilizing robotic engineering.

May 15th: “American Business Culture” presentation by Purnima Kochikar

Purnima K speaking at event

Guest speaker, Purnima Kochikar, Global Head of Apps and Games Business Development at Google Play, spoke with students about the contradictions in American business and how she has approached her own career development. Students appreciated her personal stories and practical approach to Q&A.

Starting a new internship or job this summer? Director Sunaina Gulati-Ruh led a workshop in May focused on starting strong in the first 90 days of your new position. Check out The First 90 Days: Critical Success Strategies for New Leaders at All Levels by Michael D. Watkins for tips on how to hit the ground running and make a lasting impact.


May 17th: Nutanix Lunch & Learn 

A panel of Nutanix product management and product marketing SMEs and leaders presented on how to effectively make the transition from engineering to product management and marketing, and shared how they made the changes in their own careers. 




May 17th: BAnDS: "Hardware Supply Chain Analytics at Google" with executive speakers, Evan Pardo & Anda Pasco 

"Our speakers were program managers in Google Hardware's Central Planning and Analytics team, both of whom have a strong background in demand planning for consumer electronics. They came to speak about the current ways of forecasting demand and how statistical modeling and ML can help improve outputs in these roles."

May 20th and 29th: Company Information Session with Toshiba and Tesla:

On May 20th and 29th, students met recruiters and current employees from two highly innovative companies, Tesla and Toshiba. Students learned about each company's work culture and had the opportunity to ask questions about the hiring process in an open Q&A session. We hope all of our students enjoyed the information sessions!
