Summer 2023 - IDIS 3695

Global Business Perspectives: Barcelona, Spain

Saturday, September 9 - Saturday, September 16, 2023
4 Units

Program Fee: $3,490 (in addition to per unit tuition costs)

Spain is known for a culture that shows a true passion for life. This spirit is shown through brilliant architecture, the pounding rhythm of flamenco, inspiring tapas, stunning seasides, the allure of lively evenings and, interestingly, in how Spain conducts business. This intensive one-week immersion program offers students the unique opportunity to examine the complexities of global business through their experience in Barcelona.   The program is designed to be an in-depth exposure to relevant cultural and sociopolitical aspects of the business and ESG environment, as well as in-depth analysis of the management, economic, and corporate challenges of operating a business or social enterprise in Spain.  Professionals and experts who work in Barcelona will provide unique insights and expertise on multi-faceted aspects of the business and cultural environment in Spain that cannot be provided by their US equivalents.

Students will encounter working with global business entities during their career.  As such, students may find themselves operating a business in Spain, negotiating a business deal with a Spanish counterpart, investing in a business or social enterprise in Spain, establishing a relationship with a Spanish-based business or social enterprise.  Our visits to companies from various industries will include engagements with executives discussing their approach to ESG, strategy, and innovation. Each interaction requires an acknowledgement of the complexities of Spain’s market as well as some knowledge of the cultural and socioeconomic dynamics that affect business and social transactions with Spain. By turning to experts who are working in Barcelona, students will benefit from both the shared insights and the academic portion that constitute the coursework during this program.

The course fee includes in-country double-occupancy hotel accommodations, a private bus and English-speaking guide, sightseeing opportunities, and meals & drinks as listed in your itinerary. This fee is in addition to the 4 units of tuition.

This program is open to both evening MBA and online MBA program students. Required pre-travel course sessions will be offered in-person ONLY.
