The Graduate Business Career Management (GBCM) team organizes a diverse range of events and workshops that create opportunities for career exploration, network expansion and personal/professional development. “Career Trek” to Applied Materials: Students visited Applied Materials to engage with recruiters, employees and GBP alumni. VP and SCU alumni, Srinivas Tirumala, walked students through a corporate overview and hosted a panel on Applied Material’s unique Financial Analyst Rotation Program.
“First 90 Days: Starting Strong” Workshop: Hosted by GBCM Director Sunaina Gulati-Ruh, this workshop showcased onboarding tips and strategies for starting strong in new jobs and/or internships. Key concepts included preparation, identifying early wins, managing expectations, and avoiding common mistakes.
“Design Thinking in Action: Boosting Creativity and Innovation” Professional Development Seminar: Leadership and productivity author and speaker, Pierre Khawand, guided students through a series of interactive exercises focused on applying design thinking principles to problem solving and collaborative work.
“Career Path Conversations” Alumni Panel: SCU alumni from top tech companies discussed how they used their graduate business degrees to broaden their career pathways. Students learned how each speaker went about making their career decisions and navigated to their current positions.
Toshiba Memory America, Inc. (TMA) Information Session: Students met with TMA University Relations Recruiting Coordinator, Sarah Evans, on the SCU campus and learned about the work culture and hiring process. They also had the opportunity to ask questions in an open Q&A session.
