Meenakshi is a current MBA student expecting to graduate by Fall 2015. She is an ex-officio member of the Council of Graduate Students in Business.
Why did you choose SCU to further your education?
I was looking for a business school in Silicon Valley with a focus on technology related courses. I was very happy with SCU’s course offerings, flexibility with the evening MBA program, and the alumni network, so I chose to do my MBA here.
How has your perspective on business changed as a result of furthering your education?
I used to think of business as just making money before, but now half way into the course, I realize making money is just a by-product of building a business. The primary focus of good businesses is developing great products, delivering quality service and fostering relationships.
How do you think things will change for you once you've completed your degree?
Prior to starting my MBA, I worked as a software engineer and developed products. I want to get into product management after earning my degree and I believe that my work will require more customer involvement and strategic planning. I also think I will be performing quite an amount of data analysis as a product manager in the future.
What drew you to participating on this council?
I wanted to be a part of CGSB mainly to improve communication between the students and administration. I also wanted to enhance my experience at the business school, and CGSB gives me the opportunity to work with a team of people and interact with students from all programs.
What are you hoping to accomplish through this student council?
I hope that CGSB will establish an infrastructure that would enable easier communication between the students and the administration. I would like it to be a one-stop shop for all the students’ needs.
