SCU Undergraduate Business Program Ranked No. 2 in California

The undergraduate business program at Santa Clara University’s Leavey School of Business has been ranked among the best in California and the nation by Poets&Quants for Undergrads’ “Best Undergraduate Business Schools” exclusive ranking.

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Dec. 13, 2018—Santa Clara University’s Leavey School of Business has been named No. 2 in California in the Best Undergraduate Business Schools ranking by Poets&Quants for Undergrads, and came in under the top 50 nationally at No. 42. California is home to some of the most prestigious schools in the nation.

Poets&Quants for Undergrads compiled the 2018 exclusive rankings based on a representative survey on nearly 13,000 alumni and school-reported data. It is one of the most comprehensive assessments of undergraduate business programs. The participating schools were surveyed on aspects of their admissions standards, academic experience, and career outcomes of which each was weighted equally.

“Our students are in high demand in the competitive Silicon Valley environment and we are the destination of choice for Silicon Valley companies,” said Caryn Beck-Dudley, dean of the Leavey School of Business. “Our faculty ensure that our students are provided with an excellent, well-rounded business education and our students are well equipped for the challenges they will face in their careers. We are extremely proud to be ranked among the top in the nation.”

This is the second year the Leavey School of business has participated in the Poets&Quants for Undergrad ranking.  As more schools join the rankings, with this year being the most competitive ranking since its origin, we look forward to the competition.  We are proud to announce that we are above average of schools represented, reporting a 91.67% employment rate (representative average: 88.27%) and a total compensation of $68,559.62 - a 16.5% increase in compensation year over year for last spring’s graduating class.

Robust starting salaries allow students to get a head start in the highly competitive job market and begin payments on student loan debt. “Not only are business graduates earning higher salaries than ever,” write the editors of Poets&Quants, “the data also suggests B-schools are making sure their graduates get jobs soon after graduation at higher rates than ever.”

“To be sure, across all schools ranked, this isn’t your grandparent’s version of undergraduate business education,” says Nathan Allen, project manager at Poets&Quants. “Students are demanding more from their schools, and schools are being forced to respond and adapt or risk becoming irrelevant to current and future students and employers alike. From data analytics to coding to studying abroad, to viewing business as a means for social good, schools and students are evolving in profound ways.”
