Dr. Haibing Lu joined Santa Clara University in the autumn of 2011, immediately following the completion of his Ph.D. in Management with a specialization in Information Technology from Rutgers University. He holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Mathematics from Xi’an Jiaotong University, China, obtained in 2002 and 2005, respectively. His notable achievements include receiving repeated recognition through the SCU Leavey Business School's honors for Exceptional Research, Teaching, and Service, as well as being honored with the 2021 AACSB Innovations That Inspire distinction and the 2023 MSOM Best Paper Award.

Dr. Lu possesses expertise encompassing an array of domains, including data privacy and security, machine learning, AI fairness and governance, among others. His particular focus lies in the exploration of applications and research intricacies within emerging technologies, such as AI regulations, security in cloud computing, AI implementations for sales engagement, smart energy analytics, and privacy-preserving data analysis.

His scholarly contributions comprise a collection of highly-cited technical papers featured in renowned journals, including IEEE Transactions on Dependable and Secure Computing, IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, IEEE Transactions on Big Data, ACM Transactions on Management Information Systems, INFORMS Journal on Computing, Manufacturing Service Operations Management, and prominent computer science conferences such as S&P, KDD, ICDM, and ICDE.

Dr. Lu's research initiatives have been supported by prestigious institutions including Palo Alto Research Center, Groove, GEIRI North America, Ultimate Software, AKTANA, and Markkula Center, among others.

His research findings have garnered recognition from numerous media outlets including USA Today, the United Nations, Forbes, WIRED Magazine, Yahoo Sports, AACSB, Block Editorial, TS2 Space, Bollyinside, El Tiempo Latino, DevX, and Santa Clara Magazine, reaching audiences across diverse languages.
