Retail Management Institute Scholarships
Application Process

The application process starts in the beginning of the spring quarter. RMI Scholarship Applications are available in the Retail Management Institute Office, Suite 111 in Lucas Hall. For more information, call the RMI Office at (408) 554-4753.
Achabal Family Scholarship
This scholarship was formed in 1994 by the L.J. Skaggs Distinguished Professor of Marketing and Executive Director of the Retail Management Institute, Professor Dale Achabal, and his wife Carol Achabal.
Howard and Mary Lester Scholarship
The Howard and Mary Lester scholarship was formed in 1998 through the Lester Family Foundation and the late Howard Lester, former Chairman Emeritus of Williams-Sonoma, Inc. It has supported over 30 students in the retail studies program throughout the years.
Jill Curran Retail Management Scholarship
The Jill Curran Retail Management Scholarship was formed in 2004 to honor and remember beloved Santa Clara student Jill Curran, Class of 2004. Jill passed away in the fall of 2002 while studying fashion retailing, marketing and organizational behavior during a study abroad program in London. This scholarship provides an opportunity for students in the Retail Management program to attend the Annual National Retail Federation Convention and Expo held annually in New York City.
Joseph Vesce Memorial Scholarship
The Joseph Vesce Memorial Scholarship was formed in 1995 in memory of a great friend, mentor and former chairman of the Retail Management Institute advisory board by his wife, Maria Vesce.
Ellen Magnin Newman Scholarship
As a founding member of the Retail Management Institute, this scholarship was formed in 2001 in honor of Ellen Magnin Newman. Ellen's career in retail began at Joseph Magnin Co., Inc as a buyer and merchandise manager.
Jack Kilmartin Scholarship
As a founding member of the Retail Management Institute, this scholarship was formed in 2001 in honor of Jack Kilmartin. Jack's retail career took him all the way to chief executive officer of Mervyn's before passing in 2004.
John F. and Marguerite Kilmartin Scholarship
The John F. and Marguerite Scholarship was formed in 1983 from an endowment set up by former founder and board member, Jack Kilmartin, in honor of his parents. This scholarship has supported over 50 retail studies program students since it's inception.
Philip S. Schlein Scholarship
As a founding member of the Retail Management Institute, this scholarship was formed in 2001 in honor of Philip S. Schlein. Phil joined current company USVP in 1985 after a successful 28-year career as an operating executive in the retailing industry. Phil began his retail career with R.H. Macy, Inc which lead him to be the President and CEO of Macy's California.
YMA Fashion Scholarship Fund
Organized by fashion industry leaders, FSF is a non-profit association that provides scholarship grants to talented students interested to pursue a career in any field in the fashion industry, such as design, merchandising, marketing, business and finance. For more information visit the YMA online.
