Internship description: Interns spend 6 days out of the week working at Aarti School and are encouraged to spend additional time with the students throughout the day during time off from work. During their placement, interns are welcome to work on a variety of projects relating to the Aarti Home, the Aarti School, and the Lalitha Women’s Cooperative. Past fellows have taught English classes, helped update the computer curriculum, interviewed students, raised funds for supplies, led an art project, reached out to sponsors, updated the website, worked with the livelihood programs, and collaborated with the advocacy programs.

Required skills: Self-motivated, positive, experienced working with people of different cultural and educational backgrounds, open-minded, adaptable, comfortable asking for help, creative, patient, empathetic, able to spend long periods of time with people, good written and oral communication skills; Background in teaching/tutoring or being a camp counselor is useful

Relevant interests: Working with children, girls education, women’s rights, non-profit operations and management
