News from the ACE Leadership Program
Greetings! As we wrap up a terrific Fall quarter we turn our attention to an action packed Winter quarter with lots of opportunities to connect, celebrate and engage. Several of our Junior ACErs will return from abroad with stories to tell and a few of our seniors will be finishing up early so they can begin new adventures. The new year will bring many alumni back to campus to engage with current ACE students, and there will be other opportunities to see alums at their work. We have so much to look forward to and celebrate, so let’s welcome in 2018!
We wish you lots of luck with your finals. Have a wonderful and relaxing holiday break.

ACE Cohorts Connect Through Buddy Program
Every year, each incoming ACE student is paired up with an older ACE “Buddy,” who acts as a mentor to the sophomore. Earlier this quarter, the 2020 cohort met all of the potential buddies and went through the process of being paired up. Beginning with a lively social, ACE students from all cohorts were able to meet each other. After determining who would be a good fit based on majors, career plans, and interests, sophomores were matched with an ACE junior or senior. Currently, each pair is completing individual meetings outside of scheduled ACE seminars.
Here are some pictures that we received from the Buddies’ first meetings. The top photo is from Ashley Ong and David Chan, two of our international students. The bottom photo is from Faolan Sugerman-Lash and Cayla Carson, who share an interest in sustainability and social impact studies. Thanks to everyone who is making this program a successful experience. We hope everyone is enjoying the Buddy Program!
Student Ambassadors in ACE
As the college application and selection process for high school students begins to wrap up, you will be seeing more and more prospective students roaming around on campus trying to figure out if SCU is the right place for them. Leading these prospective students are SCU’s Student Ambassadors, the few individuals that know more about SCU than anyone else on campus. Two of SCU’s current Student Ambassadors, Issabelle Hayden and Jerica Schlachter, are members of ACE, along with Lauren Kinerk and Eoin Lyons, who are abroad. Click here for full article.
