ACE Juniors Looking Forward to Summer Internships

After a lengthy search process, many members of our ACE 2018 cohort are ready to begin their summer internship when spring quarter ends.

After a lengthy search process, many members of our ACE 2018 cohort are ready to begin their summer internship when spring quarter ends. Three of our juniors, Emily Monroe, Cooper Ebbott, and Mishika Narula, will have particularly interesting experiences this summer.

Emily Monroe, a Management major, will begin working as a Business Law Intern at Varian Medical Systems, a company that produces oncology medical devices. As part of her internship, Emily will be working with Varian’s in-house lawyers to examine legal issues such as intellectual property, employment and contract law, and international marketing compliance. She was able to find her position through Handshake, and because there are very few internships that involve her two interests in business and law, she was delighted to receive an offer. Emily says she is most looking forward to sitting in on legal negotiations and mediations because she will be able to “learn so much just by listening and watching how Varian lawyers address different issues.” In addition, she will have the unique opportunity to present her work to the company’s CEO at the end of her internship.

Cooper Ebbott, an Accounting major, is preparing for his Audit Intern role at Deloitte this summer. However, he will not be experiencing the typical accounting internship. Through the International Internship Program (IIP), Cooper will spend one month at Deloitte’s San Jose location and then transition to the firm’s offices in Sydney, Australia, for another month. Cooper found out about this unique program while researching Deloitte before an interview, and he expressed his interest during the recruiting process. Once he received an offer from Deloitte, he submitted another application for IIP and was ultimately chosen. Cooper says that he is most looking forward to “experiencing work abroad and living in a new country and culture.” Additionally, he hopes to explore Australia’s many attractions, including the Great Barrier Reef, during his free time.

Mishika Narula, a Marketing major, will also be interning at Deloitte. Unlike Cooper, however, she will not be focusing on the accounting side of the firm. Rather, Mishika will be working as a Marketing and Communications Specialist. She originally found the position on Handshake and began the interview process shortly after. Because she worked for two different nonprofit organizations over the last two summers, Mishika says she is “looking forward to immersing [herself] in an entirely different business environment.” Although she will miss her hometown of Chicago, Mishika is ultimately “grateful for the opportunity to work in SF’s Financial District.”

We are very excited for our juniors’ internships this summer and are sure that they will have successful and meaningful experiences.
