Meet an ACE Buddy Group

Read about the ACE Buddy Program change.

At the beginning of the quarter, we introduced the newly revised ACE Buddy program. Since there are several new components to the program this year, we want to highlight the new “12 Questions” activity which serves as a way for our buddy groups to help get to know each other better. We are featuring one of the groups in this month’s newsletter to give others a glimpse of the new and improved Buddy Program! Nithya Kiron ‘19, Ella Cooper ‘21, and Chloe Feingold ‘21 have shared their responses to the activity with us. We hope you enjoy getting to know these ACErs a little bit more just as much as they enjoyed doing the activity!

What’s the best meal you’ve ever had?
Ella: Pad Thai
Nithya: Indian Dosa
Chloe: Greek Salad

Are you more productive in the mornings, afternoons or evenings? Why?
Ella:  In the afternoon because I’m not tired.
Chloe: Evening! I’m used to doing work in the evening.
Nithya: Evening! I procrastinate too much to be productive earlier.

If you could visit anywhere in the world you’ve never been, where would you go?
Ella: Australia
Nithya: Australia
Chloe: Iceland

What’s your favorite movie?
Ella: I don’t have a favorite movie, but I love The Office.
Chloe: I don’t have a favorite movie, but my favorite TV show would have to be Shark Tank or Undercover Boss.
Nithya: Black Panther!

Where was your first job and how did you like it?
Ella: I worked as a file clerk at an Insurance Law firm in New York City. It was during the summer of my freshman year of high school.
Chloe: Mine was a summer camp when I was about 10, I was a counselor and I loved it. I ended up working camps until I was 17.
Nithya: I was a Public Speaking teacher to third graders. I really liked it because it was great to see how much the students grew in their skill set by the end of the course.

What was the best concert you ever attended?
Ella: Avicii!
Nithya: SLAM 2014; a Bollywood concert and I was able to go backstage and take pictures with the stars.

What job would you be terrible at?
Ella: A doctor. Not a fan of blood!
Chloe: A surgeon, I’m too queasy for that.
Nithya: Any kind of sport coach, I’m neither athletic nor sport savvy.

What was the last thing that made you smile?
Ella: My roommate.
Chloe: My dog.
Nithya: A meme on instagram about adulting, the struggle is real.

What’s the best piece of professional advice you’ve ever received?
Ella: Take chances.
Chloe: To never be timid in going after what you want.
Nithya: Be confident in your abilities.

What characteristic do you most admire in others?
Ella: Selflessness.
Chloe: Optimism and a cheerful, helpful attitude.
Nithya: Compassion.

If you could pick up a new skill in an instant what would it be?
Ella: Playing the piano.
Chloe: Either programming or the ability to learn languages quickly.
Nithya: Cooking, still working on boiling water in a time efficient way.

What has been your favorite class and why?
Ella: I loved my Business 70 class. The professor was inspiring and went above and beyond to support his students. The class got me very excited about business careers.
Chloe: That is a difficult choice. Last year, my C&I was pretty great because the material I learned consistently comes up time and time again, but my CTW was also great and inspired me to go into philosophy. Also in high school, my Micro/Macro Econ classes were great, and an English course I took called “Banned Books”.
Nithya: Not sure about my favorite class, but the most impactful class I’ve taken is Human Suffering & Hope.
