BUSN188 Field Studies Course

Course Description

BUSN188: (Field Studies: LSB Neighborhood Prosperity Initiative or NPI) is a 4 unit course offered over two quarters (winter and spring -- 2 units per quarter) each year to introduce students to local low-income neighborhoods and their businesses. The course satisfies the core requirement for Experiential Learning for Social Justice (ELSJ). Students complete 16 hours of direct service in the community during the quarter through participation in class projects designed to apply classroom learnings to organizations and businesses in the local community.

In 2017 BUSN188 students worked in the Alum Rock Neighborhood with five local businesses: Floreria Juanita, Sweet Passions, Green Bay Hauling, Lucia's Imports and Immaculate Cleaning. To see more previous NPI business clients visit NPI's Get Involved page.
