Study Abroad: IES - Milan, Italy
What was one of your favorite classes?  My favorite class that I am taking is my Italian 101 class because it is super applicable for everyday life while abroad. The material that I learn in the classroom I am immediately practicing at restaurants and other interactions with locals. The professor really makes class engaging and interactive with makes class fly by.

What did you like about your program/university? I like that IES Milan offers a lot of field trips and day trips for students are very affordable prices. This is a great way to explore Italy, the culture, and to engage with the community while also getting to meet your fellow classmates and other students in the program. I have gone on a couple of trips with IES and have met people there that I am have became close with.

What was your favorite place that you visited or favorite part about your city? I really enjoyed my trip to Marrakech, Morocco because it was one on the most unique experiences of my life. I partook in a traditional Moroccan bath, flew in a hot air balloon, rode on a camel, and drove quad bikes through the desert. The Moroccan people really made the trip for me. They were very welcoming, inviting, and they love to hear about your life. There are some cultural things and ways of life that I have to adjust to but that was part of the adventure.

What advice would you give to the 2022 abroad students?  If you can overcome being so far away, then I really would suggest going abroad to everyone. It is such a great way to learn about the world, new people, and new cultures. No day is the same abroad and everything is new and exciting. I would suggest going to a place you have never been to and a language you don't know because it will be so rewarding to have to navigate it all. I've learned so much and have realized things that I will definitely take with me when I come back that will better gear me for my future endeavors.
