Hometown: Culver City, CA
Hi, nice to meet you! My name is Katarina Draskovic and I am junior student at the Santa Clara Leavey School of Business. I am pursuing a major in Marketing with a minor in e-commerce . I am extremely interested in tech and plan to pursue a career in the tech industry after graduation.
At SCU, I am very involved on campus. I am the President of the Student Alumni Council, the Student Representative for the Alumni Board of Directors, and the Philanthropy Chair for the Retail Studies Student Association. I also work events throughout the year for the Alumni Relations Office and I am a member of Women in Business and the Undergraduate Marketing Association. Lastly, I have the privilege to serve as a Marketing Assistant and Peer Advisor at the Career Center!
This summer, I interned at Cisco in San Jose. I worked in the Engineering Department as a Project Manager Intern and had a spectacular experience. I also interned at Big Switch Networks in the spring of my sophomore year. I have had additional work experience coaching tennis for over 5 years, working at a restaurant, being a student fundraiser at SCU, and working at the SCU Center for Student Involvement.
Fun Fact About Me: I trained at the United States National Tennis Academy for 3 years and I was homeschooled throughout middle school.
Hobbies: I love to hike, go to the beach, and play tennis. I also love to go on runs around the SCU campus and workout at the gym with friends.
My 3 career tips for success: 1. Attend as many Career Center events as possible. Even if you think you aren't necessary interested in the company, events are a great way to practice your networking skills with successful professionals and you mind gain a passion for a career/industry you never thought of before. I got my summer internship at Cisco through a Career Center event and I have many friends who have also landed internships/jobs because of these events. 2. Use SCU platforms to your advantage. Handshake and Big Interview are two of my favorite SCU provided platforms and have been integral parts of my career success. 3. Make a career plan for yourself ASAP. There is no such thing as too early and success will be based on how much effort YOU put into your career. The Career Center of course is always here to help, so please utilize our resources. With hard work the sky's the limit!
