Current Work

I am currently planning a book on the history of women in the visual arts in the U.S. from the colonial period to the present. There has been no comprehensive study on this topic for thirty years and the scholarship in this area has grown tremendously. I hope that the book will be useful to scholars, students, and the members of the general public who are interested in the visual arts and in women's history. National Museum of Women in the Arts. National Association of Women Artists, founded 1889, the oldest professional organization for women artists in the U.S. Women Artists Archives National Directory, an online guide to archival material from women artists active in the U.S. after 1945.
