Sergeant First Class Coby Carpentier

Training Officer and Military Science Instructor

Sergeant First Class Carpentier was born and raised in Michigan. He enlisted into the United States Army on 1 August 2002. He attended One Station Unit Training and was awarded MOS 11B at Fort Benning, Georgia.

Sergeant First Class Carpentier’s assignments include C Company 1-507 PIR, Fort Benning, GA; A Company 1-14 IN (Light), Schofield Barracks, HI; A Company 1-14 IN (Stryker), Schofield Barracks, HI; United States Army Recruiting Command (USAREC), Houston, TX; B Company and HHC 2-504 PIR, Fort Bragg, NC; and AROTC Santa Clara University.

Sergeant First Class Carpentier has held numerous leadership positions throughout his military career they include Fire Team Leader, Vehicle Commander, Squad Leader, Assistant Center Commander, Center Commander, Platoon Sergeant, Assistant Operations Sergeant, and Company First Sergeant. Sergeant First Class Carpentier previously served in three Combat deployments, that total up to 6 campaigns and 37 months deployed. They include two deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), Jan 2004 - Feb 2005, and Dec 2007 - Feb 2009; and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), Apr 2014 - Nov 2014. He currently serves as a Military Science Instructor for Santa Clara University.

Sergeant First Class Carpentier's military and civilian education include Warrior Leader Course, Advanced Leader Course, Senior Leader Course, Equal Opportunity Leaders Course, Airborne Course, Master Driver Course, Master Resilience Trainer Course, Battle Command Brigade and Below (FBCB2), Combat Lifesavers Course, and Stryker New Equipment Training (NET). Sergeant First Class Carpentier completed a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) with a concentration in Finance from Post University.

Sergeant First Class Carpentier’s military awards and decorations include Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (3 OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (4th Award) National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (1 CS), Iraqi Campaign Medal (3 CS) , Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (3), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (4), NATO Medal, Recruiter Badge, Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, Driver Badge, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Army Valorous Unit Award (2 OLC), and Army Meritorious Unit Commendation (1 OLC).

Sergeant First Class Carpentier is married to the former Cristal Palmatier from Michigan, and they have two beautiful children Matthew (11) and Brayden (8).
