Assistant Professor of Military Science

Timothy Eng is an Army Reserves Major serving as an Assistant Professor of Military Science at Santa Clara University. MAJ Eng hails from San Jose, California and commissioned as an Engineer Second Lieutenant from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2005. Tim graduated from the Engineer Officer Basic Course at Ft Leonard Wood and subsequently served as a Combat Engineer Platoon Leader for 1-15IN and Squadron Engineer for 3-1 CAV in 3BCT/3ID. In 2007, MAJ Eng forward deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom V and earned a Bronze Star Medal and Combat Action Badge for his services. MAJ Eng completed the Maneuver Captain’s Career Course at Ft Benning, GA in 2009 and went on to serve as the Construction Engineer for the Defense Threat Reduction Agency at Kirtland AFB, NM. In 2011, MAJ Eng transitioned off of active duty and into the reserves, re-classing to Logistics Branch and serving as the 974 th Quartermaster Company Commander out of Amarillo, TX. Tim was promoted below zone, ahead of his peers to the rank of Major and subsequently served as the XO for the 4/104 th CA MISO BN at Moffett Field, CA and more recently served as a Team Chief for 2/360 th at Camp Parks, CA. MAJ Eng holds both the Basic Parachutist and Air Assault Badges. 

Tim is a certified Project Management Professional, PMP, who works as a real estate project manager for TSA HQs. His areas of responsibility include renovation, space planning, and furniture procurement of all airports west of the Mississippi. He has experiences as a small business owner, co-owning and managing two retail businesses in the past as well as consulting for veteran owned start-ups in the Bay Area.

MAJ Eng lives in Pleasant Hill, CA and is married to the former Sophia Nguyen and together they have two young daughters. In his spare time, MAJ Eng is pursuing a career in real estate and serves as a Men’s Group Leader at his local church.
