José César del Toro completed his doctoral degree in Hispanic Languages and Literatures at University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). He received his M.A. in Spanish from Stanford University, and B.A. in Spanish: Language and Culture from California State University, Northridge (CSUN). He specializes in contemporary Latin American literature, film, and culture. His scholarly interests include Queer Studies and Theory, North African Literature of Hispanic Expression, Gender, Cultural and Film Studies, among others.
