Dear Alumni and Friends,
As the holiday season approaches, I have been reflecting on the wonderful community of which we are all a part. Throughout the five short months I’ve been Interim Dean of the College, I have had the chance to meet with local alumni and am continually impressed with their accomplishments that span a variety of fields from biotech and law to finance and the arts. Young alumnae Lindsey Allen ‘16 and Srisruthi Ramesh ’17, whose stories you’ll find below, are two other examples of the great work our alumni are doing. I’m proud to be able to say that our alumni are really living out the Jesuit values we share at Santa Clara University.
Throughout the rest of my tenure as Dean, I will continue to advance my key priorities—providing paid internships for our students, supporting faculty-student research and creative collaborations, and engaging and serving our community. The fruits of these efforts can be seen across our campus from Danna D’Esopo’s ‘20 work with Kirstyn Leuner (English) documenting the largest private library of Anglophone women’s writing to Takeshi Moro’s (Art and Art History) Experiential Learning for Social Justice course that engages students in digital media arts, both of which are highlighted below. Other innovative programs that I’m excited to support include The Imaginarium, Digital Humanities, the De Novo Fellowship Program, and our nationally-ranked Public Health Program, all of which serve to expand and deepen student learning.
Please take some time to explore a few of the great things we have been up to throughout this summer and fall. We’re looking forward to a rejuvenating winter break and a productive winter and spring quarter.
Wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful holiday season,
Terri Peretti Interim Dean College of Arts and Sciences
