Janet A. Flammang taught courses in U. S. politics with an emphasis on women and politics. Her current research explores the relationship between meals, conversation, community and democracy. She is the author or editor of books and journal articles on women's politics. She worked on a NSF-funded project on city government responses to issues of moral controversy. She has been a member of the Committee on the Status of Women in both the American Political Science Association and the Western Political Science Association. She served as Acting Dean (half of 2001 and 2004-05) and Associate Dean (1994-2003) in the College of Arts and Sciences. She received a Phi Beta Kappa award for teaching excellence.
