Ryan Tans teaches Introduction to Comparative Politics, Political Science Research, and Religion and Politics in the Developing World. His research explores the developmental implications of variation in local business-government relations, with a regional focus on Southeast Asia. He is currently working on a book manuscript that examines variation in taxation, infrastructure provision, and democratic participation across cities in Indonesia and the Philippines. His research has appeared in Bulletin of Indonesian Economic Studies and the East-West Center's Policy Studies series.
