Ethical, Pragmatic, and Intelligent Computing (EPIC) Lab

The EPIC (Ethical, Pragmatic, and Intelligent Computing) Lab run by Navid Shaghaghi (Mathematics & Computer Science) is working in collaboration with Julia Voss (English) to use machine learning to study the relationship between classroom design, teaching methods, and student learning. During the current stage of this multidisciplinary project, we're analyzing classroom photos to train an algorithm to analyze our "big data" set (60,000+ images). For this qualitative research phase of the project, we're seeking student research assistants to work with lab faculty to code our sample set of images, the essential first set of this large project.
