Spring Quarter - Week 3

A message from Carly Lynch

Hello beloved campus community,

Carly Lynch leads morning meditation on IG live.

Carly Lynch leads morning meditation on IG live.

I hope this newsletter finds you well and at peace, in whatever physical, emotional, and spiritual space you may find yourself in.

With many of us in the Christian tradition just having wrapped up our Resurrection/Easter Sunday celebrations, our friends in the Jewish Tradition in the midst of Passover, and those dear to us in our Muslim community anticipating the coming of Ramadan, we find ourselves in a strange season of both discomfort and of celebration. Though we are scattered, and there is fear and anxiety and unwellness, many of us still find ourselves turning to our traditions and celebrations as the seasons continue. However, each one of these prominent religious celebrations has something to teach us of this present paradox we are in. Christianity and Easter teaches us of God's sacrifice on our behalf and the overcoming of death, Judaism and Passover teach us of the faithful and liberating power of God even in the most oppressive times, and Islam and Ramadan teach us of the coming and spreading of light as we devote ourselves to our faith and our communities. Though there is pain and confusion and disappointment right now, there is so much hope for new life and new light that is here, and always to come!

You may find yourself near to your communities of celebration, or far away from those on campus who have become meaningful places for your spiritual and personal development. But know, wherever you are, that we in Campus Ministry are holding you, thinking of you, and celebrating with you in these seasons!

Blessings of peace, celebration, discovery, newness, and hope to each of you.

With love,

Carly Lynch

Alleluia!! Christ is Risen!

Easter Sunday quote

We are grateful to so many students, staff, faculty, alumni, and friends of the university who tuned on in Easter Sunday to livestream the Easter Sunday mass. Truly, Christ is risen, Christ is risen indeed! We hope that you will continue to be nourished by the inspiring reflections from Fr. Smolarski, and the familiar images of our beloved Mission Church, Fr. Kevin and the other Jesuits who concelebrated the liturgy, and the students who proclaimed the readings.
