Learn a little more about Janice M. Kyne

The initial gift establishing this endowment was given in 1991 by Jack Kyne, Janice's husband. Janice was an alumna of SCU's Special Education program, mother of an autistic daughter, Kelly, and mother of a son, John, who is also a graduate of Santa Clara. After being a special education teacher, where she was known to her schoolchildren as "Mrs. Kind," Janice became the Director of Special Education of the Mt. Pleasant School District. She taught several classes for the Special Education department at Santa Clara University and sadly, suffered a stroke while on her way to a special education lecture on campus.

The hallmarks of Janice's career - compassion, advocacy, and a true dedication to the field of special education - continue to live on in every student who receives the scholarship in her name.
