Hiremath begins his term as the 140th President of ASME
Dr. Mahantesh Hiremath begins his term as the 140th President of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), leading the professional society to help the global engineering community address real-world challenges. With over 30 years of industry experience in space, energy, transportation, and infrastructure, Dr. Hiremath currently serves as vice president at SC Solutions in Sunnyvale, California. Prior to that, he held leadership positions at SSL, SpinLaunch, ARES Corporation, Northrop Grumman, and Stellar Solutions. He was also appointed as ASME’s Congressional Fellow in 2013 and served for a year on the Capitol Hill as Technical Advisor to the Science, Space and Technology Committee of the US House of Representatives. Dr. Hiremath is an Adjunct Faculty in Mechanical Engineering at Santa Clara University. In addition to teaching in the areas of dynamics and mechanical vibrations, Dr. Hiremath has fostered our close ties to the local aerospace industry in Silicon Valley.
With this honor, Hiremath joins our Professor Emeritus Terry Shoup, who also served as the President of ASME (the 125th President). Other mechanical engineering faculty members who have been honored as ASME Fellows include Mohammad Ayoubi, Christopher Kitts, and Godfrey Mungal.
