Winter 2021 Classes FAQs

Graduate School of Engineering: The January 4 - March 19 dates for the Winter quarter are unchanged. Academic Calendar

All courses will begin January 4 in online format. Courses that include modified in-person instructional activities (hybrid) will begin through remote instruction on January 4 and commence in-person activities on or after February 1 (dependent on public health orders). Please visit the University COVID-19 site for other information and details.

How do I know which courses are hybrid?

  • Bioengineering is offering the following courses as hybrid Bioe 232 L&L, 276, 282, 308 for Bioengineering majors only.

What is the class capacity for hybrid classes?

  • The classes will be held in Heafey 122 with a capacity of 18.
  • All classes will be virtual for at least the first two weeks of the quarter. 

How can I enroll in the hybrid course?

  • Please contact the Bioengineering department for a permission number to add the course.
  • The last day to add winter courses is Sunday, January 10 

I am an international student, how does this impact me?

  • International students in the Graduate Engineering program will need to meet certain criteria in order to remain eligible to study in the US. Please refer to the detailed FAQs from International Student and Scholars (ISS) on specific requirements.

If I choose to enroll in a hybrid course, what precautions has the University taken to ensure my safety? 

  • Daily contact tracing for everyone who is present on campus.
  • Classrooms and gathering spaces have been retrofitted to ensure social distancing measures.
  • Masks must be worn at ALL times while inside Heafey-Bergin.
  • Assigned seating will be enforced for all F2F classes.
  • Regular COVID-19 testing for everyone who is present on campus (details to follow).

The Graduate Engineering Office will be closed from December 22 - January 3. We will reopen on Monday, January 4.
