Ethics Center 30th Anniversary
In 1986, Santa Clara University launched its new Applied Ethics Center, with a seed grant from Linda and A.C. "Mike" Markkula Jr. Thirty years later, the Center is going strong.
From Our 30th Anniversary Open House
"I was lucky to be part of the center as a student assistant when we went from Center for Applied Ethics to the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics (MCAE). I worked at the center from 1995-1998. It was an exciting time, filled with symposiums such as "Courts and the Mass Media: The Ethical Issues" with high profile participants Robert Shapiro, Geraldo Rivera, Greta Van Susteren and SCU's own Gerald Uelmen. The growth and learning opportunities during that time were countless, and I am grateful for the experience. We were a small staff who had big dreams for the center. How wonderful it has been to watch the MCAE grow to the success it is today. Congratulations on 30 years!" - Christine (Guerrero) Parvin '98
