Confused or even disgusted by the mix of information, disinformation, and misinformation in today’s online environment? More than 75 international media organizations—including the Washington Post, BBC, El Universal, the Independent Journal Review, and Mic—have collaborated on the Trust Project, which has produced a system of indicators that help readers see for themselves which stories are trustworthy. Major news distribution platforms such as Google and Facebook are using the standards. Join us to learn more about this effort, which uses technology to highlight key components of quality reporting such as citations, corrections, and ethics and diversity policies.
The Trust Project is hosted by the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics at Santa Clara University.
*Note: Seating at the theater is limited, but the presentation will be livestreamed at the Tech’s New Venture Hall for any overflow guests.
