The Markkula Center for Applied Ethics offers training for professionals in fields such as the social sector, government, and education.
Standards for Excellence® is an ethics training program for nonprofits, foundations, and philanthropists in the social sector, built on a national program and customized with the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics' Framework for Ethical Decision-Making. This comprehensive, fee-based training consists of a two-day clinic and shorter sessions focused on single topics.
This free training meets the California state ethics requirement for public officials as set out in AB1234. The program goes beyond the standard rules-based approach to explain the ethical principles behind California's ethics laws.
Training for Educators
Teachers and administrators attend programs such as Ethics Camp, an intensive summer workshop on character education, in addition to gatherings for principals and presentations on how to use the Center's Character Based Literacy Curriculum.
