John Temple has worked on both the editorial and business sides of a number of news organizations, including at the Rocky Mountain News, where he was editor, president and publisher. He led startups within the E.W. Scripps Co. He joined First Look Media after a year as a senior fellow in the John S. Knight Journalism Fellowships program at Stanford University. He was editor of the Rocky Mountain News when the Columbine school shooting happened, and he said he learned from that that trust is a relationship with the community. One change he has seen is that brands are not necessarily always associated with institutions; the trust relationship can be established with an individual.
