I Can Hear You Now: Balancing Consumer Privacy Rights to Digital Data with Business and Government Access
With the rise of digital data, society is increasingly seeing the privacy interests of consumers in their user data clash with competing interests of business and government. Businesses legitimately collect, track, and analyze user data to improve their products, services, and platforms for their users. As a result, this cache of user data also becomes accessible to government actors, such as law enforcement, who are often interested in user data that could shed light upon their criminal investigations. This two-panel program brings together experts from industry, government, law firms, and nonprofits to discuss these concerns.
