We’ve accomplished a great deal together as we create tools and practices that will build trust in journalism and fight misinformation. A few accomplishments:
34 ethnographic-style interviews with individuals in the U.S. and Europe to help us understand user needs, values, and responses to Trust Indicators and prototypes,
38 Trust Indicators developed by news leaders that merge public needs with journalism values,
8 Priority Trust Indicators with editorial definitions by news leaders that can become industry standards,
9 user-interface prototypes of a Trust Indicator system produced by newsroom designers in collaboration with Society for News Design and CUNY,
11 prototype tools to implement a Trust Indicator system with newsrooms, users and platform needs in mind, produced by newsroom developers in collaboration with BBC News Labs and BBC Connected Studio,
and
67 news organizations contributing to this work!
Your good thinking and collaborative efforts have created a strong foundation for a system of Trust Indicators with supporting tools that we can roll out next year. Thank you for your time and energy.
You can find the draft Trust Indicator definitions and other materials in our collaborator area.
