Glenn Loury, Merton Stoltz Professor of the Social Sciences and professor of economics at Brown University, explores the issue of race in the criminal justice system and asks, “Where do we go from here?” Described by The New York Times as a public intellectual and a genuine maverick thinker, Loury is also a prominent social critic, having published over 200 articles in journals of public affairs in the United States and abroad.  An academic economist, Loury has written mainly in the areas of applied microeconomic theory with an emphasis on the economics of race and inequality.

Government Ethics Academy

Register now for the Ethics Center's Government Ethics Academy, an interactive and fun approach to ethics training that emphasizes the meaning behind ethics regulations and offers networking opportunities with officials from many different municipalities.

The free event includes continental breakfast and lunch, and is made possible by a grant from Santa Clara County and a generous private donor.

Designing for Trust

As part of its effort to identify and highlight the elements of trustworthy news, the Center's Trust Project collaborated with the Society for News Design on a two-day design sprint in New York City. Strategists, designers, and developers from across North America and Europe prototyped tools to illuminate indicators of quality journalism.
